ROSE CECIL

Participatory team member

Rose’s last 3 years have been largely dedicated to volunteering work in the Ukraine. This has equipped her with in-the-field medical skills, ideal for expeditions, resilence and grit. Rose proved her worth in teaming up with LeeWatts, head med, in establishing and running the ‘foot clinic’, and occasional hoof – a busy team role!

It was a great loss when Rose had to return prematurely to the UK on a family issue.

Up until the Incense Route Expedition, Rosie has had diverse careers from portrait painter, jewellery designer, mother, to front of house host, long distance walker, traveller, keen motorcyclist and pilgrim.
More recently, Rosie’s voluntary work in the Ukraine has been for the MMR Organisation, working as a driver for their medical teams, driving a medevac on the Ukrainian frontline.. She also works for Mission Ukraine UK delivering case vacs, working independently creating and fostering opportunities to help Ukrainians. She has TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) certification from NAEMT, has attended the (ATACC) Anaesthesia Trauma & Critical Care course in ‘24 & ‘25.

Rosie continually documents her life in words and images. She has a large library of photographs and videos of MMR’s work.

She wrote a travel book during Covid about her motorcycle trip from Bangkok to Tbilisi, vlogged about her 1000km charity walk from Dorset to Edinburgh and keeps a diary via her Instagram account @roseinboots.

She lives by the maxim, ‘He that lives in hope dances without music’.
